EPISODE 54

Slate and Brush on paining your way out of corporate

Today I’m speaking with the ever so talented Sarah of Slate and Brush. This story reminds me that it’s essential to make a daily effort to learn and grow every single day, especially if you’re considering trading your career for a passion project. If you’re thinking about making a change in your career path, this episode is for you!

REALIZING YOUR DREAMS

Slate and Brush on paining your way out of corporate

Sarah’s watercolor business became a reality when she finally realized that working in a corporate environment wasn’t fulfilling. She learned many valuable skills while she was an employee and the lessons that she learned easily transferred over to her solo career as a watercolor artist.

PASSION

I love when I can share stories with you that are typical of a small business owner but counter-intuitive to what we believe a career should look like. Following your passion is not a class or an elective in college, you have to forge your own path and discover the bumps through experience. We are ever-evolving and I strongly urge you to consider what it would look like if you at the minimum took just 30 minutes a day to discover something that you enjoy doing.

SHARE YOUR TALENT

Once you’ve found that passion, could you share it with the world? Even at a small level? I know that sharing that new found talent is going to be the hardest, but I promise…it gets a wee bit easier with experience.

I would love to hear your story.  Did you leave a corporate job too?
