EPISODE 41

Episode-41-Handmade-CEO.jpg

Today’s episode features the youngest guest that I have ever had on the show.

starting young

At just 13, Nathan created a woodworking business that he started perfecting when he was just 9 years old.

INFLUENCE

After talking to Nathan and after interviewing his father, Sidney, who was featured in episode 38, I realized that this story really started well before Nathan was 9.

As an entrepreneur with kids in the house, it’s easy to see how Sidney’s passion and dedication for his small business influenced Nathan.

EXPOSURE

Furthermore, exposing a young mind to a sea of creative people at handmade markets offers an opportunity that is far more exciting to experience than to read about.

THE SIMPLE THINGS

I love that Nathan can appreciate the simplicity of what his business means for him.  As he put it, he gets to work with his hands, and he makes his own money.  If we could approach a small business idea with the same observant curiosity, sprinkle in some trial and error, and mold it into a final product, I’m sure we would end up with something that we are excited about.

NO DOUBT

I also appreciate that because of Nathan’s age; he has yet to develop the self-doubt that creeps in when you’re a bit older.  If you find a passion and you learn to develop it into a business, then you’ve found the best of both worlds.
